Design Center: MSU Bug House
The MSU Bug House is located on Michigan State University’s (MSU) campus in the Natural Science building. Visitors have the opportunity to see, touch or hold some insects and arachnids all while learning some interesting facts about them. I along with two other designers were tasked with rebranding the MSU Bug House. The following is our design process.
Research
We took a closer look at the history of the MSU Bug House to gain a better understanding who they are as a learning organization. We then looked into the competition of the Bug House and compared strengths and weakness to get a better idea of what the Bug House needed to create a new brand.
Design
We started off creating multiple moodboards then focused in on three possible design directions, one direction for each of the designers to work on. The design direction that I focused on was whimsical/soft.

Design Review
After creating three different design possibilities, we sent off our designs to the client to review and they chose the direction they wanted to go with for their rebrand. When the clients decision was made (combining two of the designs), we then went back in and refined the designs as well as any additional deliverables they wanted.
Branding Kit
After refining the designs, the final digital copies of the logos, illustrations and other deliverables files were placed in a branding kit and sent off to the client to use.
