Cookie Design II : Sticker Update

I started making Holiday Cookie Boxes for my friends in 2020. It was a way to continue baking for them and stay connected while they were states away. It also allowed me to play around with design and experiment with different recipes.

For the fourth year of doing Holiday Cookie Boxes, I wanted to update the design. I thought it might be nice to simplify the sticker design and add a cookie guide.

Research

I knew I wanted to keep the overall design simple, so I took to Pinterest and Google to find inspiration. I looked into cookie packaging to see what was out there. Below are some of the designs that stood out to me.

Color Palette

Before I didn’t give too much thought to colors with the previous cookie sticker designs. So this time I wanted to create a color palette that I would use throughout this update. With the updated design I also wanted to play around with the shape of the sticker. I was doing circle stickers before but I wanted to try using a rounded square. I thought it would work well with the shape of the polybags that I used.

Holiday Cookie Guide

This year I wanted to create a cookie guide. I had this vision of having illustrations of each of the cookies I was making on the front and a list of each cookie ingredient on the back. To make that vision come to life, I first tried to use watercolor to create the illustrated cookies. It didn’t work out as well as I wanted, I needed a little more practice with watercolor, so I pivoted. I decided to use Procreate. I had never used it before but have always wanted to play around with the software. After a little bit of trial and error, I was able to create the look I was going for. I took the drawings and added them to the cookie guide. This is the result:
